    Why the promises matter

The New Testament calls itself the fulfilment of promises God made long before: to Eve, to Abraham, to David. Paul said the gospel was preached to Abraham, and that he himself was on trial “for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers”. Without those promises the gospel has no shape; with them, it is clear and concrete: a King, a land, a people raised from the dead, and the blessing of all nations.

This is the gospel Christadelphians believe and preach: “the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ” (Acts 8:12). To share in it, a believer is baptised into Christ and becomes, with him, Abraham’s seed and an heir of the promise.
